These are polished slabs of Rhodochrosite. Rhodochrosite gets its name from the Greek words rhodon (rose) and chroma (color). First officially named in 1813 by German mineralogist Johann Friedrich Ludwig Hausmann, its history spans ancient Incan legends, modern industrial uses, and legendary mining discoveries in Colorado and Argentina.
